New Website Under Construction

Posted: November 18, 2011 in Gigs

We are in the process of a complete website overhaul and will not be updating this page until the new site is complete. Please visit our roster page to see who we are lucky enough to be collaborating with. You can also follow us on Soudcloud, Facebook and twitter which will be updated daily.

In the mean time, please sit back and have a listen to some of the lovely sounds we are enjoying at the moment.

British producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Riz Maslen, who records as Neotropic and Small Fish With Spine has been described as one of the most prominent women composers working in post-techno experimental electronics. In addition to her warm electronic programming, Maslen’s music also embraces folk, psychedelic pop and her interest in experimental film-making.
A Dancing Beggar adds his trade mark ghostly tones and hypnotic drones as the opening track for Neotropic’s remix album ‘Equestrienne Remixes’ out now via Architects + Heroes Records .

The Guardian’s highly respected music writer, Paul Lester has awarded Sun Glitters ‘New Band of The Day’ saying: “Victor Ferreira’s pitch-shifted vocals and chopped-up melodies create a compellingly itchy, glitchy R&B…finest example of chillwave synth-pop meets ambient dream-pop”.

New Additions

Posted: May 16, 2011 in Gigs

It’s been a while since we last updated our website, we’ve been very busy working on a number of exciting new projects which we will tell you a little about.

Firstly, we are over the moon to be working with Finish daydreamers, Paperfangs. The band are currently writing and recording new songs, in the mean time you can check out their previously released self-titled EP below.

Another artist we are excited to welcome to our PR roster is Brooklyn-based glo-fi multi-instrumentalist/producer, Frank Midnite aka Bright Future. BF is in the midst of recording his new LP which should be ready for release later this year. Check out a selection of previously released tracks, including remixes for Blackbird Blackbird and Foodstamps here.

The next addition to the Type family is the solo project of Portuguese musician, Luís Fernandes. Under the moniker The Astroboy, Luis is set to release his new album “The Chromium Fence” which explores ambient drone, analog synthesis and digital manipulation in August. You can check out the creepy 3D film clip HERE and preview three album tracks below.

As if that isn’t enough, we are very excited to be working on the new project by James Brooks formally of the Mute Records’ post-rock band, Appliance. The title of James’ new guise is Land Observations. LO sees Brooks exploring the relationship between layered, repetitive Electric 6 string guitar and motoric rhythms, via an interest in the concept of historic roads. The forthcoming 7″ EP is set to drop 4th July via Enraptured Records. Take a peak at what you can expect from the EP here.

And lastly we are very pleased to announce Type PR will be collaborating on the new EP by Piano Interrupted, which is suitably titled ‘Piano Interrupted EP2. Piano Interrupted is the brain child of Franz Kirmann and Tom Hodge. What began as a studio project blending their respective disciplines of classical minimalism and electronica has developed, with the addition of Greg Hall on cello and Eric Young on percussion, into a fully-formed improvising quartet. We can’t give you a taste of the new EP yet, but you can take a listen to their previously released EP via the media player below.

Sun Glitters: Everything Could Be Fine (Mini Album)

Sun Glitters is the playful moniker of Luxembourg native, Victor Ferreira.  After many years of sound research through different genres under his previous guise, Sug(r)cane, Ferreira changed his recording name to Sun Glitters and started developing ideas for his debut album ‘Everything Could Be Fine’. Taking traditional vocal pop melodies, and injecting them with a dose of Technicolor, Ferreira applies a cut-and-paste technique; mixing layered pitch-shifted vocal samples, wonky beats, shoegaze and downtempo electro. Having been compared to Tri Angle Record’s Balam Acab, and following in the dub-steps of rising chillwave pin-ups Star Slinger and Holy Other, Sun Glitters creates beautifully mixed audio collages, and having just remixed ta track for Papercutz and with remixes in the pipeline for Blackbird Blackbird, Purity Ring, Lushlife, Niva and Space Ghost, Sun Glitters is a musical force to be reckoned with, so keep a keen eye on him in 2011.

Sun Glitters made it onto the Pitchfork Forkcast list. Read the article HERE

Forthcoming Live dates:

Type PR welcomes Rich to its ranks.

Posted: March 23, 2011 in Gigs

Type PR is happy to welcome the newest member of its publicist ranks, Rich Hanscomb. Rich  fell in love with the written word about music during the early 90s when he read NME and Melody Maker cover to cover. He has written for the BBC, Dazed and Confused, The Times, Drowned in Sound any more other music journals as well as press releases for Morr Music’s ISAN. He once wrote a Best of Post-Rock list for FACT magazine which didn’t feature Sigur Ros. He is the in-house press officer at Brighton’s Willkommen Records, working with The Leisure Society, The Miserable Rich and Sons of Noel and Adrian. He makes music with his brother under the name Junkboy who have recorded for the likes of Moshi Moshi, Enraptured Records, Wool Recordings and Second Language Music.

Rich will be bringing his experience and indefatigable enthusiasm for those he represents to Type PR who are also happy with his commendable tea making abilities.
